I have an issue with an employer. What should I do?

Updated 2 years ago

Employment NZ has some helpful resources for resolving issues that arise in the workplace.

Our role

It's important to note that Student Job Search is the intermediary in the relationship. We're neither the employer nor employee of either party. This means:

  1. By agreeing to our Terms and Conditions employers are agreeing to abide by all New Zealand laws and regulations related to our services.
  2. If it's a student or employer’s intent to pursue unlawful or immoral behaviour, Student Job Search will do everything we reasonably can to protect the other party, but ultimately the risk falls with them.

Key operating principles

Student welfare

The safety and welfare of students is paramount. Student Job Search won't knowingly promote jobs that may jeopardise student welfare or that conflict with the spirit of Student Job Search.

No surprises

We're committed to enabling students to make informed decisions regarding any and all jobs listed. We'll act honestly and keep our partners informed of our intentions. If we're in doubt as to whether an employer has breached the rules of conduct and/or is acting in a way that may harm the reputation of Student Job Search and/or students, we'll investigate and decide what action is necessary. If we find any employer is in the wrong, we'll look to either temporarily suspend or ban the employer indefinitely from using Student Job Search.

Read our Terms and Conditions and Rules of conduct.
