This depends on where you are in your study journey.
Intending Student
The date you may begin applying for jobs with SJS depends on the start date of your studies.
If your study start date is between 1 January and 30 June, you may use SJS from 1 July the previous year.
If your study start date is between 1 July and 31 December, you may use SJS from 1 January that year.
Current Student
You’re able to use SJS from the first day of your course up until two years after you finish your studies.
Current Student – Short Course
You are able to use SJS from the first day of your course, until the end of the calendar year that your course finishes in.
For example: If you study a four month course starting in March 2023 and finishing end of June 2023, you can use Student Job Search until 31 December 2023.
Graduate
Once you’ve finished your course, you can apply for jobs for the next two calendar years. For example, if your degree finished in November 2022, you are able to use Student Job Search until 31 December 2024.
The end date of your course is the day you complete your last course requirement. For example, the day you submit your last assignment or take your last exam.
For the first year after you graduate, you can apply for any jobs on the site, however from your second year you will no longer be able to apply for casual or one-off roles.
We list one-off and casual roles predominantly to help those currently studying to find flexible work arrangements during their studies and encourage our graduate students to enter the permanent New Zealand workforce.
International or Non-Resident Students
If you are a non-resident student studying in New Zealand with a suitable visa and you match one of our above categories, you can use Student Job Search to apply for jobs.
